Master Map of Campaign Area

This is a clickable image map if you are using Netscape 2.0+.

Thule (pop. 2000) is the seat of the Baron of Thuleshire, rival to the Baron of Rood. Essentially a small market town. On the border, so the Count maintains a garrison of 80 men here headed by Sir Agiron (RL of YT). Normally quiet.

Rood(Pop. 8,000) - ultra-lawful wealthy mercantile town. Ruled with a rod of iron by the Machiavellian Baron Balthasar Maximilian.

Aquapor(Pop. 18,000) - Anarchic city of greed: the end of the Ban has led to an explosion of trade which funnels through here. Rather Wild-Westy. The Earl is young and though clever, is rather blinded by the wealth he is accumulating. Social stresses building. Corruption rampant.

Trang(Pop. 10,000) - no nobles. Some dwarves. Mining boom town.

WildwoodCentre of the mysterious Droods, who exist in a symbiotic relationship with their forest. Extensive details on them and their villages can be found in Drood Tales and Gamemo 18.

SwampGiant leeches. Echhh.

Sandarum(Pop. 3,500) - Famous for its gourmets and healing muds

Quoril(Pop. 5,000) - notorious skinflints. Baron Aurelion Flamespring (Yelm / Lunar)

Harandash(Pop. 20,000) - capital of Bindle. Throngs with Haranglat fisherfolk - don't touch their women unless you want a fight.

Meltwater LakeRecently recolonised by Newtlings

RathorelaBear Hsunchen (Telmori in NE). Some elves. Primeval forest, never civilised, teeming with spirits, exotic beasts and dangerous warriors. Original home of Harrek the Berserk.

Newfaith(Pop. 350) - Truefaith, Nu-Faith - fanatical puritans

Genest(Pop. 300) Home village of the PC's. See Campaign Background.

Lepidos(Pop. 250) - leper colony. Avoid!

Bloodburst(Pop. 250) - indolent thieving bastards

The Droods' Tall TreeIn a clearing known as Drood Central. This tree was once Eldaris, the First Drood.

Rathorelan Tall Tree Fronela once lived here and plants in the area are affected by giantism. An elf community (the Tall Elves) flourishes and an extraordinary tree grows here, of similar proportions to the Drood Tall Tree but with features of many different species. Climbing it can take you to other levels of awareness but these vary e.g. during Dark Season you would meet angry spirits; a juvenile with little self-understanding might meet nothing unusual; a shaman would use the climb as a journey of self-discovery, etc.

Grey MountainsCold, high, only easily passable at Alysbridge. Hangout for vampires, giants, broo, and goats.

GlacierThe priests of Kalikos just scored an impressive victory over Valind in 1620 when they discorporated Crionax, mega-Hollri and source of the glacier. Unfortunately they were tricked into this by Termisquor, who wants Mortarex (an Undead Demon Lord in the form of a vampiric T-Rex, trapped there when the Five summoned Crionax) freed. The meltwaters have been torrential of late...

Dragonrest(Pop. 250) - unremarkable except for Colin, the innkeeper who wants to know everything about you.

ErigiaPopulated by the Char-Un horse nomads, fierce but fortunately allied to the Lunars and thus Carmanians. A peaceful border. Char-Un are courteous to Carmanians, in their own eyes.

Addernest(Pop. 300) - site of an ancient Earth temple, much larger than a village would normally possess (historical quirk). Possibly the oldest Earth temple in Carmania. Dedicated to Crom Serpos, the snake cult, who takes the place of normal earth deities for surrounding farmers. Many locals have pet snakes. Normal earth priestesses are welcome.

Forest of Thosk woods owned by the Baron of Rood, Some Droods but only Westwood retains true Drood culture. Forest has no dryads or elves and only faint magics due to extensive but sustainable exploitation for game, lumber, charcoal (largely for Trang)

Koregos (pop. 300) infamous throughout Carmania as the birthplace of several traitors. "The most despicable & craven people in the world; and as slaves, the most subservient & least likely to run away" - Sheng Seleris, on a trip through the area. The farmers here raise a breed of pure white cows.

Ruined tower can be seen through the marsh mists. A scenario in itself but as the PC's ain't been here I can't publish details yet... unusual pentacular cross section indicates EWF architecture.

Hourglaston A ruined city in Rathorela? But they would never allow such an invasion of buildings surely? - The walled town (orig. pop about 1,000) dates back to the Middle Sea Empire times and bears disturbing elements of their architecture. And EWF features! The Rathori say they destroyed it many centuries ago... but why are they all afraid to enter?

Stone Circle A centre of worship of Ezari, the Spirit cult of the Rathorelan forest. Centaurs lead the cult and a herd lives nearby.

Morainus named after the glacial moraine nearby? Or Mortarex? Large village next to Castle Periledes, deserted following the Plague 20-30 years ago. Partially underwater due to meltwater from the glacier overfilling the lake these days. There are several larger scale maps of this area under Maps

Alys' BridgeActually built by Rokaris, but Alys died after him and managed to get the name changed. A magical bridge of ice across the glacier. For picture and further description see -------.

War Zone When the Ban lifted the Earl of Aquapor agreed a logging agreement with the Rathori tribes nearby. However the Lunar view of what was reasonable and sustainable looked like strip logging to the barbarians. (The Aquapor economy went into overdrive - shipbuilding, fuel, housebuilding as trade boomed.) The Ezari cult declared a holy war in defense of the forest and warriors from far away came to help. Now any Carmanian entering this barren wilderness of tree stumps and weeds is likely to be scalped. Large military units of up to 30 men have disappeared near the tree line or at night. Fortunately, the Rathori view Aquapor as a seperate clan / tribe to other cities so the fighting has not spread north, where the Carmanians are less arrogant and eager to avoid conflict.

Thraldum (Diamondwhisper) dominated by the Arin Family. The Magister, a 150 year old ultraparanoid Magus lives here.

Hourglaston Semi ruins dating back to Middle Sea Empire times. How come the Hsunchen ever let a walled city be built in their beloved forest? If the Rathori destroyed it as completely as they claim, why are they afraid to go in?

Tall Tree as tall as the Drood one but completely different origins.

Stone Circle a centre of Ezari worship (the Rathorelan forest cult)

Ruined tower half hidden in the mists of Dragonmarsh. Unusual pentacular cross section hints at EWF origins.

Moranus Named after Mortarex, not glacial moraine. A large village nestling below a cliff atop which perches Castle Periledes; both now deserted due to the post-plague Quarantine on the area. The village is partially submerged by the lake, which is flooding due to excessive glacial meltwaters these days.

Shwarzgelt estate see the Dart War scenario...

Yeorl there is nothing unusual here. We are ordinary farmers. We will now escort you off the area.
